Sky News Business Editor Ross Greenwood says Woolworths CEO Brad Banducci came out on Thursday with a “fairly blunt message" towards his workers regarding vaccinations.

This comes as the supermarket giant has announced a staff vaccine mandate across more than 1,200 retail stores in Australia.

There will be 170,000 staff in ACT, Northern Territory, NSW, Victoria, and Western Australia who will be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by January 31, 2022.

Workers in South Australia, Queensland, and Tasmania will need to be double jabbed by March 31, 2022.

Mr Banducci said those who do not have a reasonable excuse for not getting the jab will have their employment terminated.

“There’s one interesting part about this, and that is the union, the SBA, that’s responsible for most of the retail workers, will support the proposition of getting people vaccinated," Mr Greenwood told Sky News Australia.

"They just want to make certain those people who choose not to be vaccinated, they have valid reasons and companies have good processes in place." Woolworth CEO had a 'fairly blunt message' for staff regarding vaccination
